The Ubell occurrence is located south of the Little Zeballos River, approximately 7.5 kilometres south east of Zeballos.
The occurrence lies within argillites of the Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group, 3 kilometres south of the Eocene Catface Intrusions stock.
Locally, fault zones contain narrow persistent quartz-calcite veins with abundant pyrite and range in width from 15 to 30 centimetres. In places pyrite impregnates the wallrock for a distance of 1.0 metre from the vein. A grab sample of vein material assayed 0.16 grams per tonne gold and 1.2 grams per tonne silver (Geological Survey of Canada Memoir 272, page 55).
In 1983, a program of geological mapping and rock and soil sampling was completed on the area as the Ubell and Isle 1-2 claims. In 2007, Grande Portage Resources completed a regional geochemical program on the area as the Cherry Property. In 2011, Gold Ridge Exploration completed a regional geochemical sampling program on the Tahsis Property.
